The Tower of Babel

Genesis 11:  The Tower of Babel
I started reading from Genesis, and found this story. Everybody in the world spoke the same language. They had agreed to build a tower made of bricks and tar that would reach to the heavens. But the Lord came down to see the city and tower they were building. He said that because they all spoke the same language, they were able to build the tower. Humans had the power to do anything they had planned to do. So God mixed up their language and scattered them across the earth.

God didn't want them to have all the power imagined and use it for bad. He didn't want them to think they were more powerful and better than he is.

If everybody in the whole world spoke English, and then we made a giant tower, would you brag? Would you tell others that you were better than them? The people did and now we no longer speak the same language.

People thought that building the tower would make them famous, but instead were spread out to other places.
